Expo Managing Director Customer Quarterly Update

Dear Expo Customer,

The past year has presented major challenges to all of us, and, globally, the world is still some way of operating in a stable environment – both around COVID-19 and its economic impacts.

Without the usual freedom to travel and meet many of you face to face, learn about your businesses, and understand your challenges, I thought it would be useful to share my thoughts on paper concerning Expo’s performance and our plans for the future.

Company Performance:

Along with most businesses, Expo has faced significant disruption to our business processes. The team has however done an excellent job of figuring out new systems and allowed us to operate continuously throughout the pandemic ensuring that we delivered the products and services that our customers rely on. We recognise that some orders and services were delayed at the outset and thank you for your understanding. Doing business remains uncertain as countries are prone to sudden restrictions and the COVID pandemic still weighs on business sentiment in many of our markets, but we remain confident in our team’s ability to adapt to an ever-changing landscape.

Our sales team continue to discuss projects with customers, albeit via video, with the added benefit of being able to quickly call on the support of our engineers and consultants to join these calls. In some cases, this helps all parties get to a solution in less time than it might have taken previously. Definitely a win-win. Please do speak with your Expo sales manager to set up a consultation.

Exploring new vertical markets:

The world is turning towards new energy profiles, with many governments seeking to use the COVID recovery plans to drive their COP26 environmental commitments. The rise of H2 as an energy vector represents an excellent opportunity for many of our traditional customers and, indeed, new players entering the market. Blue H2 is likely to benefit while the world ramps up the ability to generate Green H2. The former is seeing investment from the existing O&G players in downstream and midstream areas. To gain more insight into this fast-growing sector, Expo has joined a fuel cell industry association here in the UK, and recently presented on safety at an association meeting.

If you operate in the field of H2 we would be happy to share our thoughts with you.

New Products: We have maintained our commitment to developing new and existing product lines to support our customer needs.

If you maintain, own, integrate, or manufacture process gas compressors, we have developed a new range of inert gas buffer systems that address the issues existing with current solutions. Visit our website for full specifications:

We have standardised our offering of hazardous area bar code label printers and you may have seen these promoted via industry channels. Our printer provides a solution to a major gap in hazardous area IT systems and avoids the need to print labels in a safe area away from the point of need.  You can find details on our website here:

Finally, I’d like to thank you all for your continued business and confidence in us. Expo remains committed to continually improving our products and services to serve you, and to continue to provide solutions to your hazardous area problem. We look forward to continuing our relationships as the world takes its first tentative steps towards economic recovery.

Best regards,

John Paul De Beer,

Managing Director, Expo Technologies
