Project brief:
To design and engineer IECEx certified, increased safety (Ex e) enclosures for low and medium voltage connectivity for offshore tower yoke mooring systems.
Challenges:
Develop a standard enclosure design that can be universal for either Low Voltage or Medium Voltage application.
Internal components have significant weight, so chassis plates or mounting panels to be reinforced/strengthened.
Due to the weight, it would be required for the internal chassis plates or mounting panels to be installed through removeable panel in the top of the enclosure.
Epoxy coating on interior and exterior surfaces of the enclosures to insure protection against environmental conditions of installation.
Requirement to use Ex e rated components to ensure apparatus or assembly certification to IECEx codes and standards.
Outcome:
IECEx approved, IP66 enclosure with innovative design features to suit the exacting requirements
Custom internal chassis plates for Ex e components.
Environmental epoxy coating as per project specifications.
