Simplifying Purge and Pressurization
The SmartPurge Z is a fully certified purge and pressurization system for Zone 2 hazardous area applications. When fitted to a suitable enclosure, the system enables standard uncertified electrical equipment to be operated safely in a hazardous location.
Simple to install and configure, and able to purge a wide range of enclosure sizes, SmartPurge Z is ideally suited for use with OEM systems, gas analyzers, DCS systems and other electrical enclosures.
The system comprises the Control Unit (CU), Air Supply Unit (ASU), Relief Valve (RLV), and Automatic Leakage Compensation Valve (ALCV) within a single compact unit, avoiding the need for interconnection of components.
- The CU contains the control logic to monitor flow, pressure, and purge timing, and provides system outputs.
- The ASU delivers air to the enclosure during the purge phase.
- The RLV provides a metered vent for the purge air flow and gives overpressure protection for the enclosure, using our patented, magnetically-set exhaust valve (with an integrated spark-arrestor)
- The ALCV supplies air in response to changes in the enclosure pressure to maintain a stable pressure, avoiding the need to manually adjust the flow rate for leakage compensation during commissioning, and over the life of the enclosure.
