Designed at our UK engineering hub and built by our US team, we recently supplied some heavy-duty low & medium voltage Ex e enclosures for an offshore tower yoke mooring system.
The enclosures were required to be extremely robust in design, not only because of the extreme offshore environment, but due to the weight of components installed inside. The completed systems required IECEx Zone 1 certification.
The tower yoke mooring system is an amazing piece of engineering that allows the ship to remain connected to the tower during the transfer of oil or gas, while the vessel moves around in response to changes in sea conditions. The Ex e enclosures provide interconnection points at each end of the control cable array connecting the tower and vessel.
